A shooting at a business along South Maryland Parkway in Las Vegas left two people injured Tuesday afternoon, triggering a large response from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and an ongoing investigation.
Police said officers were dispatched to the 9700 block of South Maryland Parkway following reports of gunfire inside a commercial business area. When authorities arrived, they found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel treated the victims at the scene before transporting them to a nearby hospital. Witnesses described a chaotic atmosphere as employees and customers rushed to safety after hearing multiple gunshots. Several nearby businesses temporarily shut down while officers secured the shopping center and searched the area for evidence. Videos circulating on social media showed numerous patrol vehicles, crime scene tape, and investigators surrounding the scene.
At this time, police have not publicly identified any suspects or announced arrests. Investigators also have not confirmed what led to the shooting or whether the victims were intentionally targeted. Detectives remained at the location for several hours collecting surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses in an effort to piece together the events that unfolded.
The shooting has added to ongoing concerns surrounding gun violence in the Las Vegas Valley, where multiple violent incidents have been reported in recent weeks. Law enforcement officials continue urging anyone with information to contact Metro Police or Crime Stoppers as the investigation progresses.
Traffic along South Maryland Parkway experienced delays while authorities blocked off portions of the area to process the scene and gather evidence. Residents and shoppers were advised to avoid the vicinity during the investigation.
Officials emphasized that the case remains in its early stages, and additional information—including the identities of the victims and any possible motive—is expected to be released after families are notified and preliminary interviews are completed.
Police have not indicated whether the incident may be connected to any prior cases in the area. Investigators continue asking witnesses or anyone with cellphone video from the scene to come forward as they work to identify those responsible.
The investigation remains ongoing.
